An anxious kid whose favorite tree is mysteriously dying tries to save the day by tracking down clues in his journal-slash-detective novel, but when the tree comes down anyway he’ll have to rethink some of the truths he’s learned along the way in order to finish writing the book.

Middle grade fantasy adventure, in progress

When a misfit young bear escapes her magical forest community, she finds a world on the brink of environmental collapse. Faced with the hard truth that animals’ overuse of magic caused this destruction, she and a stowaway mouse must convince everyone to give up their magic to heal the earth.
